At-Home Activity
This at-home activity asks you to imagine that you are an arachnologist, a scientist who studies spiders and other arachnids, that has just discovered a brand new species of spider. Did you know that while there are about 50,000 known species of spiders out there in the world, scientists think that there are still 1,000’s of species that haven’t been discovered yet?!
Use this helpful guide and draw a picture of your new spider species and write a little about what makes your new spider special. Don’t forget – spiders have two main body sections with eight legs coming out of the smaller of those two sections, the cephalothorax!
