“I didn’t know we had fireflies in Montana!”
Citizen scientists have been reporting bioluminescent fireflies in western U.S. states to the Western Firefly Project for over a decade, breaking new ground in our understanding of these charismatic beetles. Join us at the next Bugs and Brews to learn from speaker Christie Bills how researchers at the Natural History Museum of Utah use and share this information and how you can participate in this project.
Christy Bills has been the invertebrates collections manager at the Natural History Museum of Utah for a few decades, where she loves talking about insect collections, fireflies in the West, and how science is for everyone.
