Sensory Hour for Children with Special Needs

Do you have a child who finds the usual noise and activity stressful? We love the unbridled joy our visitors bring to the museum, but the excitement can be overwhelming for some. So we’re excited to introduce quiet hours! Once a quarter, we will open our doors early, creating a calm and distraction-free environment for those needing a little extra quiet time. Please reserve your tickets here.
Do you have a kiddo who is overwhelmed by noise and stimuli? During this hour, we will turn off fans, heaters, foggers, and anything else that makes extra noise in the museum.
Some Things to Keep in Mind:
The animal encounter area will not be open during these hours.
The staff will be quietly working to ready the museum for our regular open hours.
Art supplies are welcome but must adhere to USDA guidelines (no large bags over 12” x 12,” no monopods/tripods).
Excess noise will be kept to a minimum (fans and foggers off, etc.), but noise-canceling headphones are welcome and encouraged if needed.
